"Blauwal," the German term for Blue whale, was an imaginary brand developed during a university course. The assignment required the creation of a brand, complete with a trademark and packaging design, for a series of seven environmentally friendly household cleaners. The goal was to highlight that the products were both eco-friendly and effective in cleaning. Throughout the course, collaboration took place with the design agency TSI Consumer Goods, offering insight into the branding process through continuous communication between the agency and the manufacturer. Given that the physical appearance of the bottles and the product information text had already been established, attention was exclusively directed towards the design of the labels.
Concept
Incorporating environmental friendliness into the design concept, the brand name 'Blauwal' was chosen not only to evoke a direct association with nature but also for its high recognition value. Furthermore, the concept of simplicity in design was embraced to emphasize the product's commitment to avoiding harmful ingredients. A minimalist design also aims to contrast with other cleaning products, which often follow the approach that more is better. Colors were carefully selected to not only convey the product's effectiveness in cleaning but also to symbolize its connection to nature.
